Effective Braking for Faster Cornering
Everyone can go fast by hold the throttle pinned on the straights, but it?s when it comes time to slow down that separates the pros from the amateurs. Next time you are at your local track, watch the fast guys around the track; they are either on the gas or braking. Slower riders tend to [...]

Announcing Team Pro Circuit 2013
Courtesy of Pro Circuit
CORONA, Calif., ? Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki is excited to both welcome back familiar faces and inject new blood into its legendary and championship-winning program.
Martin Davalos and Justin Hill will be the newest faces under the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki tent in 2013, and will join Blake Baggett, Darryn Durham, Tyla Rattray and Dean Wilson in the hunt for the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross and Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships.
The Champ
Fresh off helping earn bronze for Team USA at the 2012 Motocross of Nations held in Belgium, Baggett brings the momentum of the 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross 250 Class Championship into the 2013 season. Baggett made history during the motocross season by holding on to the 250 class points lead for 11 consecutive rounds. He finished fourth in the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross Lites (now dubbed 250SX) East Championship and will enter his fourth season as a pro, making him an integral member of the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team.
The Joker
Darryn Durham will also be returning in 2013. The Pennsylvania native, who earned a career-first supercross win with Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki at the New Orleans round of the 2012 Monster Energy Supercross season, is excited to return with the team. Durham?s fun and outgoing personality is a great addition to the group and always brings excitement to the track.
?I?m excited to be part of the team,? said Durham. ?Everyone works their butt off to win. I look forward to going racing again and trying to bring home a championship!?
The Veteran
Hailing from Ecuador, Martin Davalos is a new addition to the team, but brings with him the experience of competing in the 250 class. This may be his last year in the class, so he is focused on making this his best year to date.
?I?m pretty excited to be part of the team,? said Davalos. ?This is a great opportunity for me, and probably my last chance in this class, so I have to make it count. I?m very thankful that I?ve been given the opportunity, and I?m looking forward to the start of the season.?
The Rookie
This will be Justin Hill?s very first year in the pro ranks. He is ready to move up to the big league after a successful amateur career that was molded by the legendary Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green amateur motocross program. Hill?s goal of competing with the professionals has finally come to fruition, as he will make his pro debut in 2013 with Monster Energy/ Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki.
?I?m excited to be part of the winningest team in moto history,? said Hill. ?I?m confident that I will learn a lot from everyone in my transition from amateur to professional.?
A New Dynasty
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki is well known for its dominance in the 250 class, but 2012 marked a historical year for the team as they fielded their first 450 class rider. The team will continue its presence in the class with the return of Dean Wilson and Tyla Rattray in 2013. Wilson, the 2011 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross 250 Class Champion, and Rattray have both seen success with the team, and are excited to be part of a new chapter in Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki?s legendary program. Both will compete in the 250SX class during the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross series, and will move up to the 450 class for the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship series in the hopes of starting a new tradition of dominance to complement the team?s already illustrious history.
The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team will make its 2013 debut during the opening round of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross Series, which will be held Saturday, January 5, at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.

Pastrana plans seven-race Nationwide run
Travis Pastrana will finally be making his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut.
Pastrana announced Friday his schedule for the 2012 season. Pastrana was slated to make his series debut with in 2011, but an injury sidelined him for the season. Now, he’ll embark on his NASCAR career April 27 at Richmond International Raceway.
Pastrana, 28, is an 11-time X-Games gold medalist. He will run seven Nationwide races this season and 11 in the K&N Pro Series. His K&N season opens March 17 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
“The wait has been grueling,” Pastrana said. “This is one of the toughest things I’ve ever done. But we’re ready to go now. We have seven Nationwide races planned but if we can secure some additional sponsorship we’ll run more. If it were up to me we’d run every race after Richmond. I’m ready to get this thing going.”
Two days prior to his expected July 30 debut in 2011, Pastrana broke his right ankle and foot while attempting a motorcycle trick at the X-Games.
Pastrana will race under the Pastrana199 Racing banner in 2012. The team will have a technical alliance with Michael Waltrip Racing supplying personnel and equipment. Boost Mobile will sponsor each of the seven Nationwide races while iRacing will serve as the primary sponsor in four K&N races.
Pastrana’s Nationwide schedule is: Richmond International Raceway, April 27; Darlington Raceway, May 11; Charlotte Motor Speedway, May 26; New Hampshire Motor Speedway, July 14; Chicagoland Speedway, July 22; Indianapolis Motor Speedway, July 28; and Atlanta Motor Speedway, Sept. 1.
Mastering Starts
Listen to any pro?s interview and they will always say they need to work on start. The start is one of the single most important aspects of winning. DC Moto TF Ride Day with Josh Hill
In the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship series, Josh Hill consistently found himself on the podium. He ended the season sixth overall in points, in which he finished second in 5 of the 17 Main Events. In July, Josh spent time preparing for the ‘Speed and Style’ event for X Games 16. His practice session went from ‘landing a backflip on his first attempt’ to ‘under rotating the next time around.’ This horrific crash sent Josh to the hospital with a list of injuries and a whole new respect for the sport of Freestyle Motocross. I caught up with Josh, at Pala Raceway for the DC Moto TF Ride day, where he talked about his rehabilitation, his plans for Supercross 2011, and more!

Josh Hill at the DC Moto TF Ride Day
Angela: Hey Josh, you are looking good. How are you feeling?
Josh: Yeah I am getting better, everything is starting to heal up and I am getting to where I can function normally again. So it is getting better, but I need to focus on getting my body stronger. That is my main thing right now.

STEVE KINSER & DONNY SCHATZ
Tony Stewart Racing Seeking Ultimate Bragging Rights for 2012
As Outlaws Close Campaign at Charlotte’s World Finals
INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 30, 2012) – The achievement most competitors strive for is to be named champion at season’s end. It’s a goal not easily accomplished but remarkably rewarding when a driver and his team is hoisting the coveted trophy when the dust settles.
The 2012 World of Outlaws (WoO) Sprint Car Series season concludes this weekend with the PEAK Motor Oil World of Outlaws World Finals presented by NAPA Auto Parts. Following Saturday night’s final 30-lap A-Feature of the season, there will be a familiar face ready to accept the hardware at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. Tony Stewart Racing’s (TSR) Donny Schatz can clinch his fifth WoO championship Thursday by simply making a qualifying lap behind the wheel of the TSR No. 15 STP/Armor All/Chevrolet J&J, and the Fargo, N.D., racer would like nothing more than to put an exclamation point on a championship season by duplicating his sweep of the World Finals in 2011.
Twenty-time WoO champion Steve Kinser finished second to his TSR teammate Schatz in last year’s season finale and looks to close his season on a high note by finishing one spot better in the World Finals this weekend in his TSR No. 11 Bass Pro Shops/J.D. Byrider/Chevrolet Maxim.
Only one driver can win the final race of the season and, since the first World Finals in 2007, Schatz and Kinser have earned three of the five checkered flags. Kinser won the finale in 2007 while Schatz was victorious in 2008 and 2011. The event, which includes WoO Sprint Cars, WoO Late Models and the Big-Block Modifieds from the Super DIRTcar Series, begins with a pair of qualifying sessions for the Sprint Cars and Late Models Thursday. Complete programs with heat races, a dash and feature races will be held both Friday and Saturday.
Schatz is the only driver to make all 30 WoO features at the 4/10-mile Charlotte dirt oval, which opened in May 2000. He won his first race at the track in October 2000 and, since 2003, hasn’t finished outside the top-eight in 18 races. He clinched his third WoO title, and first with TSR, by leading all 30 laps of the season finale in 2008. In May 2010, he led 29 of 30 laps to earn his fourth win at the track. And last fall, he won both nights of the World Finals to increase his win tally at the track to six, most by any driver. Earlier this year, Schatz drove the STP machine from the ninth starting position and finished second.
Kinser will be looking to win at Charlotte for the third time this weekend. His first triumph came in October 2000 and his most recent victory at the facility closed the 2007 campaign. He has 18 top-five finishes in 29 starts. The Bloomington, Ind., native has finished second at the track eight times, including last year’s runner-up finish in the finale. In May, he raced from the sixth starting position and raced his way into the lead during the 30-lap A-Feature, but a blown left-rear tire ended his chances at victory.
The two A-Features this weekend will be races 73 and 74 of the 2012 WoO season. Schatz finished second in a pair of races Oct. 13 at I-55 Raceway near St. Louis to continue an incredible streak of consistency since July 29. The STP driver has finished inside the top-five 25 times in the last 29 races, and those results, which also include victories in the Knoxville (Iowa) Nationals and Williams Grove (Pa.) National Open, have been the difference in the title chase. For the season, Schatz has earned 11 victories, 39 top-fives and 60 top-10s, which has helped him build a 176-point advantage over Craig Dollansky in the championship standings. Kinser, who scored his most recent win Oct. 6 when he raced to victory at Rolling Wheels Raceway in Elbridge, N.Y., has four wins, 26 top-fives and 47 top-10s on the season. “The King of the Outlaws” ranks fifth in the championship standings and is guaranteed a fifth-place finish.
Saturday’s 2012 WoO season finale will be broadcast live on SPEED beginning at 8 p.m. EDT.
On Thursday, the pit gates will open at 11 a.m. EDT, with the grandstands opening at 4 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, the pit gates will open at 12:45 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 4 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. For more details and ticket information, call the track at 800-455-3267 or visit www.CharlotteMotorSpeedway.com/Dirt.
Race fans unable to attend this weekend’s races can catch all of the action on DIRTVision.com. Fans can listen live as Johnny Gibson, “Voice of the Outlaws,” calls the action as he does at all WoO Sprint Series events on the DIRTVision.com cybercast, as well as on the DIRT Radio Network. Go to www.DIRTVision.com for more information on all the site features, including updated results from each night of racing, as well as a chat room to interact with other race fans.

Travis Pastrana History 300 Preview
CORNELIUS, N.C. ? Stock car racing veterans Mike Greci and Scott Zipadelli serve as an integral part of No. 99 Boost Mobile Toyota driver Travis Pastrana?s introduction to NASCAR.
